Getting to Railay

About Railay

Railay has two main sections: Railay East and Railay West.

Railay West is the main beach with higher-end resort options.

Railay East is more budget-friendly and offers a vibrant backpacker atmosphere.

Note: Arriving at the Railay East pier is more accessible if you are carrying your own gear, or travelling with luggage.

Generally, if you only have a few days to stay in Krabi, we recommend that you stay in Railay for easier access to climbing as going back and forth between Ao Nang and Railay daily can be time-consuming depending on the availability of longtail boats.

From Krabi Airport to Railay

Airport Shuttle to Ao Nang: Upon arrival at Krabi Airport, you can take an airport shuttle to Ao Nang, the closest mainland point to Railay. The shuttle service is readily available outside the airport terminal and operates throughout the day. The journey typically takes around 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

Ao Nang Pier: Once you reach Ao Nang, head to the Ao Nang Pier (Ao Nam Mao Pier). It’s a short walk from where the airport shuttle drops you off. The pier is the main departure point for long-tail boats to Railay.

Note: the airport shuttle will drop you off at Ao Nam Moa Pier, which will take you to Railay East.

From Ao Nang to Railay

If you’re already on the mainland, you have two options for getting to Railay.

  1. If you’re staying in downtown Ao Nang, the closest longtail boat ticket office is by the beach, at the Ao Nang Longtail Boat Service Club.
Longtail Boat Service Ticket Office

A one-way ticket cost 100 baht and service starts at 8am. However, you can expect to wait until at least 8-10 people show up before the boat departs. This can vary from between 15-40 minutes on average. If you’d like to leave sooner, you can pay more for a ‘private’ boat (~1000-1200 baht).

Boats from Ao Nang Longtail Boat Service Club will arrive in Railay West.

  1. If you’re staying near Ao Nam Mao Pier, you can take a taxi for 200 baht from Ao Nang to the pier. If you’re driving a motorbike/scooter, there are free and paid parking options near the pier.

Getting to Spider Rock

We’re located in Railay East, 100m from Avatar Hotel.

If coming from the East Pier, all you have to do is turn right at the end of the pier and walk straight.

If coming from Railay West, continue through Walking Street for about 10 minutes. At the end of Walking Street, continue straight and follow the road. When you see the sign for Diamon Cave, take a right and walk to the end of the street and make a left. Our shop will be on the left-hand side.
